Well done to our award winners
Subhan has been nominated as he continues to show commitment during training sessions, but also has grown in confidence and displayed leadership qualities as one of the senior players in a inexperienced U13 squad. He has also given back to the club by using his free time to help in training sessions for the All Stars as well as helping during the Clubforce weekend.
Pritesh has been nominated as he has shown resilience and perseverance to develop his ability in become a better cricketer this year. This has led to him being selected for matches where he has made valuable contributions with the ball. His confidence has subsequently grown and he is now showing a level of maturity that befits the effort he has put in to date.
Kyara has been nominated for the award to recognise the her growth in confidence this season in playing and training as the only girl in a squad full of boys. Her desire to play the game and willingness to get stuck in has helped her overcome her initial nervousness to now being recognised as a valued member of the U13 squad. She has forged a good relationship with younger girls in the U10 squad and is viewed by her coach as a good role model for a growing girls membership.
Akhil has been nominated in recognition of the effort and hard work he has put into all of the training sessions over the past year. This has led to him becoming captain of the U15 team and being selected to the adults team. He is a well liked member of the group and has gained the respect of his peers through his dedication to the club both on and off the field
All Stars is now into week 4 at Pinner and we have had a fantastic start to the whole course. Over 35 kids, 5-8 yr olds have signed up and enjoying the fun-filled sessions. Most of the kids are new to cricket and it's great seeing them come back each week and really enjoying a new sport. It's also great to see so many of the parents willing to help out. We hope to see many of these kids stay on a join our colts section so the future is looking bright at Pinner.
From a coaches perspective, it's a lot of work, but very rewarding. There are few things better than playing and teaching cricket on a sunny evening at Pinner!!.
Twice in two weeks Cyrus Barrett was involved in league record breaking partnerships, firstly with Adam Rissen and then the very next week with Dan Downer.
Playing against Hurley at the Montesole Oval Cyrus and Adam put on 126 for the 6th wicket with Cyrus finishing on his highest ever score of 95 and Adam scoring a maiden league 50. It replaced the previous best of 108 between M Walton and M Cole (Hurley versus The Lee).
The very next week Cyrus was at it again, this time leaving it later with a last wicket stand of 64 with Dan Downer at Knotty Green. Cyrus was this time left on 82* with Dan Downer scoring his league highest score of 13. This replaced the previous highest made by Azam and Shamail of Braywood which has stood since 2013. This partnership also enters the record books for Pinner 2's as the highest last wicket partnership since records began!
On the weekend of the 31st March 2017 Pinner CC will be the focus of the Middlesex CCC Showcase Cricket Force weekend.
Work will be undertaken both inside, outside and on the ground prior to the 2017 season and it would be great to see as many past and current members, playing or otherwise, at the club over the course of the weekend.
It is a fantastic achievement to have been selected and one that will benefit the club over the weeks and months to come.
On Saturday the 11th March at 4pm we will be holding a public meeting to discuss the future of the pavilion and giving more details about the Cricket Force weekend that is being held on the 31st March.
Pinner have been selected as the Middlesex CCC Showcase and as such will benefit from additional volunteers from both Middlesex CCC and the English Cricket Board, including players!
Please come along and listen to the proposals as well as giving us the benefit of your opinions, all are welcome!
Winter nets are held at Nower Hill School (www.nowerhill.org.uk/) on Sunday mornings between 10 and 11 for adults and between 11 and 12 for juniors. They will run until the end of March.
New members are always very welcome to join the sessions!
