Match report Pinner 1st X1 travelled to denham cc 1st X1 today and on winning the toss elected to bat and the 9 men of denham took to the field ,the other 2 players being held up in traffic en route to the denham ground
arrived after 10 overs had been bowled.Norman Williams and Alan Carter opened the innings with inderjeet gahunia and Faisal Mahmood opening the bowling for denham.Norman tucked into inderjeet's bowling with 4 x4 and after 10 overs a bowling change took place with Dawson joining the attack and both Alan and Norman went after his bowling .Mahmood was bowling a very good line and length and not giving any loose deliveries for our openers to prosper from.spinner metha came on with Khan and at 103 for 1 Norman departed caught and bowled by Khan for an excellent return to form innings of 65 in 87 balls 107 minutes 9 x 4 .Alan who had played a good supporting roll then opened up but was unluckily run out for 34 89 balls 116 minutes 3 x 4 but both openers had set us up to obtain with 8 wickets in hand and 21 overs available to a 200 plus score.However our next 4 wickets went cheaply and hari ramachandran 13 ,jack tucker 5. Salman moeeniddin 1 and raj pandian 3 were all back in the hutch with Pinner 133 for 6 after 40 overs and in obvious trouble.Ravi pandya and Nick Lawrence then took on the challenge putting on 22 till nick departed for 5 and 153 for 7 became 153 for 9 after 46 overs with both Ravi 17 and john hoh 0 departed as disastrously we had lost 9 wickets for 50 runs In 15 overs.heman Mehta spinning had finished his allotted overs bowling 15 overs 1 maiden 5 wickets for 39 runs .enter skipper Daniel Langan and with Felix hoh Pinner had for the last wicket our 2 nd biggest partnership in our innings of 33 as Pinner reached 186 all out off 51 pt 2 overs Daniel smashed a 6 and 2 x 4 to finish 17 not out and Felix scored 12 .Denham's other wicket takers were inderjeet gahunia 7 overs 2 maidens 1 for 23 ,zee Khan 6 overs 3 maidens 2 for 16 , wasim javed 1 for 2 and a run out but mention of Faisal mahmood 11 overs 4 maidens 0 wickets for 25 runs has to be made .A very sub standard tea was served up by the home club ,cheese slices,turkey slices and French bread oh how we are spoilt by Lisa's fantastic teas at our club enough said . Pinner declined to take the new ball( taken in 24th over) and opened up with Ravi pandya and Daniel Langan both spinning and hearing from denham skips that this was his best batting attack in the league this season I was delighted that Ravi took wickets in the 5th, 13th and 15th over to reduce denham to 37 for 3 with nick Lawrence taking 2 good catches and an lbw.Daniel was bowling a good line and length also and a 4th wicket came with a Nick dropped catch and jack tucker throwing the ball straight to raj our keeper for a run out 42 for 4 after 17 overs.inderjeet gahunia settled in batting 41 balls for 28 5 x4 and him and Faisal Mahmood putting on 44 for the 5th wicket before john hoh caught Indy off salman moeeniddin 86 for 5 29 overs.Then captain David tang at 7 came in and aggressively took on the Pinner attack striking 7 x 4 and putting on 53 run partnership till Mahmood 21 was lbw hari ramachandaran 139 for 6 40 overs.Then tang attempted a reverse sweep and Daniel gleefully trapped him lbw for 34 and at 145 for 7 off 41 overs 3 results were in the balance as this game had swung two and fro.ricky butt and Iqbal shokat were at the crease and put on 25 vital runs till raj took out shokat 8 caught behind again off Daniel 170 for 8 45 overs.Salman bowled a tight over but then butt hit 2 huge 6s and a 4 off Daniel and in finishing 26 not out saw the home side through to a 2 wicket victory with 1 pt 1 overs to spare at 188 for 8 wickets .The game was played in a good spirit and pinners wicket takers were Ravi pandya 12 overs 3 maidens 3 wickets for 39 runs ,Daniel Langan 14 pt 5 overs 1 maiden 2 for 59 ,salman moeeniddin 7 overs 1 maiden 1 for 19 ,hari ramachandran 2 overs 0 maidens 1 wicket for 15 runs and a run out .Todays game was the classic ifs and buts ,could of,would of ,should of that are spoken after these types of games some you win some you lose and today we lost but it's gone now ,we move on to our next game onwards and upwards come on you lambs
