Hurley 2 v Pinner Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 19 Aug 2017 at 12.30
Match was Drawn

Match report Pinner 2's made the trip to the lovely ground of Hurley, thankfully looking forward to playing a game of cricket after a number of recent concessions for both the first and second teams.
On an overcast afternoon Pinner won the toss and decided to have a bat, with a team full of batting. However after the loss of two early wickets the Lanbs were 18-2 and skips was beginning to wonder at the wisdom of the decision. He needn't have worried, as in came Saif Khan (125*) who put on 73 with the resolute Simon Pilsbury (34) and an unbeaten 136 with the 2's own run machine Cyrus Barrett (63*). Blasting the ball to all parts of the leg side, Saif was in his element against short balls, peppering the pavilion and on one occasion clearing it. The shot of the day though, was CB's exquisite lofted extra cover drive for 6.
With an early declaration at 45 overs, an average tea was had by all and Pinner set Hurley 248 to win in 55 overs.
Pinner opened the bowling with Anay Lakhia (1-13) and Dan Downer who both bowled exceptionally without any luck. The fact that it took until the eight over before a first boundary clearly showed the intentions of the most boring team in our league. At 24-1 off 14 overs it was looking like a very long afternoon but the sun was shining by now which made it a pleasant evening. John Hoh bowled well again without luck as he beat the edge numerous times but it was skips (3-25) who broke through the stubborn defence with a full toss finding Anay in the outfield. Deepak Amriwala (1-51) changed ends and picked up his first league wicket with quick in-swing bowling.
In trying to get a wicket Simon Pilsbury (1-7) and Robert Fells were brought on, with SP getting the dangerous Ali to sky one to the safe hands of Saif Khan. That was almost the end of the excitement, except for the home team's sudden realisation that they could get an extra batting point by scoring one off the last over (oh, the small things in life!). with one ball left they still needed that one as John Hoh bowled a great over but a scramble off the last ball meant that Hurley achieved their target of 175.
Special thanks go to Leeroy Rogers for his faultless display and for Alan Kay for scoring for the two's - an honour and a pleasure to have the two of them with us.
Player of the day must go to Saif Khan, but special mentions to John Hoh and Tino Mahendram for their enthusiastic fielding displays, and the whole side for being competitive to the last ball.
Well done to all!
