Match report On a special day for me when I have all my boys on the pitch for my presidents X1 v the club ,whatever way the result goes I'm on to a winner.club captain Daniel Langan and bob Harrison my X1 's captain tossing a coin resulted in bob winning the toss and inviting the club to bat first.Agreement was 12 a side and Robert fells opened with Simon pilsbury with Phil page and Varun Singh opening the bowling for my X1 .The wet conditions made run scoring diffulcult but rob fells hit a quick fire 24 aggressively and was 2 nd wicket down after Simon had been adjudged lbw 14 for 1 and rob at 30 for 2 . Jonny hymers scored 14 ,Tino mahendran 15 but both Andrew Jackson and Varun bowled well to reduce the club to 104 for 5 when due to rain an early fantastic luncheon was served up to both sets of players at least 30 minutes before the set time by lisa and sister Emma with both new potatoes and jacket potatoes served up with salad and lots of goodies including dessert of strawberries and cream and trifle a truly wonderful spread.pinners innings continued after lunch and it was a 50 run partnership by Ravi pandya in a recent good run of form scoring 51 9 x 4 38 balls 50 minutes with rob bonneywell playing a supporting role which was to be the highlight of the clubs innings.nicholas Lawrence chipped in with 17 and Colt Shane o ' Sullivan 12 as pinners innings closed on a good score of 169 for 11 off 37 pt 4 overs.Presidents X1 bowling honours went to Phil page 8 overs 2 maidens 1 for 31 ,Varun Singh 7 overs 2 maidens 2 for 22 , Andrew Jackson 8 overs 1 maiden 3 for 44 ,sy balendran 5 overs 1 maiden 1 for 23 , Russell brown 3 overs 1 maiden 3 for 9 and john spencer 1 pt 4 overs 0 maidens 1 for 3 the clubs innings finished at 3 11 pm as the rain started and pitch was covered and an early tea taken with again so much variety of goodies to choose from by our Lisa and Emma.I must admit I felt that the game would be called off but with both captains and an umpire inspecting wicket a decision was made to restart the game at 5 06 pm.dan downer and Shane o ' Sullivan opened the clubs bowling attack with Norman Williams and spencer leach opening my x1's reply and it was dan downer who struck first ball to send Norman back to the pavilion hardly the start anticipated. Spencer leach 29 played some excellent shots but was cautious of dan downers good line and length bowling .andrew Jackson 23 also played some fine shots and Kieran Carter scored a good 12 but for the Pinner team the ball with the rain consistent now was fast becoming like a bar of soap. John spencer had scored 18 not out with Colt john hoh 11 not out and the presidents X1 were 115 for 6 with 7 pt 5 overs to bat when umpires victor gutteridge and Leeroy Rogers called a halt to proceedings after rob bonneywell's first delivery was dispatched to the boundary with him slipping to the ground and the umpires making the correct decision with players safety paramount.pinner's wicket takers were with excellent bowling dan downer 13 overs 3 maidens 4 wickets for 45 Felix hoh 4 overs 0 maidens 1 for 20 and nevan o Sullivan run out by a good throw by brother Shane .The game was played in an excellent spirit with spectators Paul stimpson statto pre Simon pilsbury,Peter catterall,Jackson jones and john Williams in attendance and Andy rayment popping into the pavilion en route to a wedding and john and Doreen townsin and Evelyn spencer arriving socially after game so nice to see them all . I would like to thank all the players and the two umpires today who in poor conditions played in the game and hope that next years game is blessed with good weather as part of our 125 year celebrations of playing at montesole playing fields a massive moment in our community clubs long history.A feature of the game was Alan Carter ,Shane o Sullivan and Felix hoh playing for the club with Kieran Carter Alan's son, and nevan Shane's brother and john hoh Felix brother in the presidents X1
