Match report With an 11 am meet and then leaving Pinner cc 11 20 am for our furthest away trip harpsden ( Henley on Thames) a 32 mile journey one hoped for zero hold ups but unfortunately that was not to be the case. At 11 50 am we got underway on the motorway only then to have further hold up till reaching destination 12 55pm Captain Alan Carter was already at ground and on this extremely hot day made the decision to bat and at 1 13 pm himself and jonny hymers opened the innings with Norman not at ground but who arrived to be told get changed your 3 .Both jonny and Alan batted well and had put on a good 31 partnership in 10 overs before Alan edged one to the wicket keeper .enter Norman Williams who faced 3 deliveries 2 over his head and one that he did well to avoid 2 x 5 no balls and 1 no ball early in his innings with the bowler being replaced at the end of his 3rd over.rod Birkett was bowling his usual good line and length but anything loose jonny hymers was duly punishing with boundaries.in the 22nd over jonny departed for 40 in 52 balls 78 minutes 7 x 4 to Birkett but had done an excellent job 90 for 2 .With harpsden declaring 11 men but only having 10 it was disappointing that Pinner then lost their way and crashed to 119 for 5 32 overs.norman lbw for 24 in 59 balls 58 mins, hari ramachandran 8 ,jack tucker 9 . Raj pandian went in once again to play at 6 the anchor role and once again was crucial in Pinner not folding and importantly not giving harpsden extra overs to chase down our total.Ravi at 7 came in and a couple of slaps saw him score a quick 12 before being out 137 for 6 38 overs .nick Lawrence came in at 8 and confidently took on the harpsden attack from the off and with raj tickling and nudging runs it was their excellent partnership 89 unbeaten in 14 overs that saw Pinner to an excellent with shouts of sea bass, sea bass being encouragingly shouted 226 off 52 overs.raj scored 40 not out in 68 balls 94 minutes and Nick 49 not out in 48 balls 50 minutes .Harpsden keeper and captain burgess had left the field after the 2 nd drinks break so harpsden fielded 9 of which raj and Nick took full advantage of Rod Birkett 15 overs 2 maidens 3 wickets for 52 ,paice 1 for 58 ,Stevens 1 for 44 both off 15 overs and mitchell 1 for 20 took the Pinner wickets Tea was served and before Pinner went out to field and a team talk Alan hadn't been able to have pre game which I can recite as morocco mole went boys we got out of jail and I didn't see any disagreement to that statement as it was accurate.pinner opened with harsha poovaiah and Ravi pandya and with the old ball and it was Ravi who struck bowling ratcliffe 4 22 for 1 6 overs then the new ball was taken after 10 overs Ben Hancock aggressively went after the Pinner bowling with hard hitting and it was to be a fabulous catch by Ravi off Felix in the 21 st over 96 for 2 and then 3 balls later Felix trapped Mitchell 20 to reduce harpsden to 101 for 3 .nick Lawrence joined the attack and struck in the 28 th over 111 for 4 as in the Pinner innings nelson had struck again.At 130 for 5 Felix took another wicket 33 overs.With 15 left to bat Stevens 20 not out in 88 balls was joined by normal opener burgess who was to score 22 not out as harpsden closed at 166 for 5 off 48 overs which included 5 penalty runs as a helmet on the field was struck.ravi 8 overs 1 for 31 ,nick 10 overs 1 for 26 and Felix 10 overs 3 for 27 runs took the wickets for Pinner today.
This was job done for me we had done to harpsden what they had done to us in our earlier encounter at montesole and that had to be pleasing.After 10 league games played we are unbeaten and table toppers with 7 wins 3 draws and knowing that whoever is in the 1st X1 squad has achieved in our games this season and we have to all be well happy with that knowledge.we move on to next week now onwards and upwards congratulations all those involved today a big well done team. As far as I know Pinner 14 points ,harpsden 5 points from this drawn game
