Knotty Green 2 v Pinner Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 08 Sep 2018 at 12.30
Pinner Cricket Club Lost by 6 wickets

Match report Pinner 2's made the short journey to Knotty Green knowing they had to gain 3 more points than their hosts to avoid a potential relegation.
Winning the toss, skips had no hesitation in batting, on what looked like a good track. The regular opening partnership of Robert Fells (10) and Simon Pilsbury (19) started solidly until the 7th over when Rob knicked behind. Bob Harrison (39) entered the scene and was initially circumspect, leaving and defending until he had the measure of the bowling. Unfortunately Simon went to a leading edge and Malik Qadir (17) to an 'umpire's call' LBW after some clean blows. Both Cyrus Barrett (12) and league debutant Akshay Dhande (16) got in and then out as Knotty bowled tightly. At this stage Pinner were 107-5 and a welcome 30 run partnership between Bob and Rob Bonneywell (41*) was ended when Bob skied a catch to long on with both batsmen well set. Despite some martialling of the tail, Pinner then collapsed to 181-10, without making full use of the overs, a familiar story this season.
Coming out after tea Pinner took the old ball with Maanus Avula (1-33) and Rob Bonneywell. However the attacking intent from Knotty's openers soon put the Lambs under pressure to take wickets and the experiment with the old ball soon ended. Playing his first league game of the season, Varun Gopalakrishnan (1-40) proved how much he had been missed by constantly beating the outside edge with no luck. It was good to see he had recovered from his nasty bout of Typhoid, and we look forward to seeing more of Varun next season. Akshay Dhande (1-23) proved he will make a good all round league player and Dan Downer (1-49) signed off his Pinner career with a couple of spells. It will be a different side without the loveable Irishman, and we'll sure miss his unique style of fielding from the most improved cricketer over the last three years - thanks for all your efforts DD!
Back to the game and despite regular changes of bowling, a couple of drops and not enough runs meant Pinner were always under pressure on a small ground and Knotty coasted to a 6 wicket win in 34 overs.
All a skipper can ask is that everyone putting on a Pinner shirt for a league game gives their all, and this has been the case this year, with the majority of cricket played being hard and fair and we have been competitive throughout.
