Pinner Cricket Club Lost by 37 runs

Match report It was a mixture of youth and experience at the Montesole Oval as third place Pinner 2's took on 4th place Denham on a warm afternoon. With 19 players unavailable for selection this week it meant a first league game of the season for the venerable Philip Page.
Skips won the toss and decided to bowl first with Waris Khan almost holding on to a difficult legside chance off the first ball from Phil (1-39). It didn't take long for the pair to combine as Pagey added to his vast number of wickets. Deepak Amrwallah (1-37) was introduced and clean bowled Treacy. Line and length from an unlucky Dan Downer (0-54) meant Denham never quite broke the shackles as they scored at four an over throughout their innings. Skips (4-57) replaced DD but couldn't find a way to get out the young Denham opener. Josh Simpson batted extremely well for his 114 but eventually fell to a catch by Kiran Carter off Robert Fells (1-16). A comical run out brought back memories of a recent Lambs batsman and Denham posted a respectable 233-8 in their 52 overs.
After another good Lisa Noel tea, the Lambs set about scoring 5 an over and Rob Fells (22) and Simon Pilsbury (30) got off to a solid 42 run start. Despite double figure scores from Waris (10), run machine Cyrus Barrett (17) and Deepak (23) no one was able to get the big score that would have helped an excellent Akhil Dabasia (44). In fact this was the first time this season that all the top six got into double figures without one going on to make 50.
With 6 overs to go Pinner lost their 9th wicket, and with it the chance of a win, leaving DD and Pagey to see if they could hold out. Unfortunately Dan was bowled with 6 balls left, and Pinner lost a good game, played in an excellent spirit.
The difference in the sides was the Denham opening bat but player of the day for his excellent catch and accomplished 44 was Akhil.
