Match report 2nd placed near neighbours denham cc 1 st x1 made the short journey to montesole playing fields to take on current division 1 leaders Pinner cc 1st x1 on Saturday .On winning the toss pinner captain Daniel Langan had no hesitation on an extremely hot day to bat first and take on the potent denham bowling attack .Denham‘s position in the table was backed up by the fact they had bowled out oposistions this season for 55 ,85,108 and 125 bowling first then knocking the runs off for victory .So norman williams and Alan carter opened up and disastrously in the first over-from deepak kumar norman edged one to the keeper 0 for 1 Enter Hari ramachandran who followed for 7 at 9 for 2 bowed by Pranav desai.raj pandian 1 fell lbw to desai 15 for 3 8 overs before Felix hoh 0 was adjudged lbw to change bowler masood 16 for 4 looking rather high the ball not Felix after 9 overs and Daniel must have thought oh dear this is not going to plan ,so you can imagine what Alan carter must have been thinking seeing the carnage occurring around him but Alan focussed on the positive and this was to reap reward.pinner made a recovery and all was ticking along nicely with Salman moeeniddin partnering alan till salman 8 was dismissed 41 for 5 lbw desai in the 16 th over and Pinner with 31 overs available to bat were in massive danger of being rolled over giving denham extra bonus overs and at this stage it had to be highly likely that this would happen with denham record this current season.Alan was joined by saif Khan and these two steadied the ship to take the score up to 89 till Alan got a spiteful delivery he could do nothing about that reared up and the keeper held on to a skier and with 39 in 78 balls 110 minutes 7 x 4 Alan departed but he had batted so well with determination and the last of the top 6 had gone after 28 overs .Saif at 7 was joined by Ravi pandya at 8 and all of a sudden there aggressive attacking positive cricket and some sloppy denham fielding was to turn the game dramatically on its head pinner‘s way much to daniel’s relief and his now merry men.Saif and Ravi put on 65 to take us to 154 for 7 before Saif was out for 49 in 67 balls 94 minutes 9 x 4 in the 39th over and denham in the field had lost the plot with extras mostly byes costing them dearly on top of Khan and pandya aggression .Raahul aggarwal 7 joined Ravi departing at 170 for 8 43 overs then Enter nick Lawrence 17 runs 3 x 4 at 10 who with Ravi also tucked into the denham attack to score 42 off those 4 overs to see pinner through to after earlier events a highly unlikely 212 for 9 with 37 extras (23 byes) thrown in as nick was out last ball and Pinner were cock a hoop with denham visibly shell shot .ravi had batted 60 balls 73 minutes to score 47 not out 6 x 4 an excellent innings and we all know that Ravi off the leash with carte Blanche to play his attacking destructive hitting game is a joy to watch .Denham wicket takers were deepak kumar 4 overs 2 mdns 1 wkt for 5 runs,Pranav desai 11 overs 3 mdns 3 wickets for 27 runs ,Faisal Mahmood 12 overs 3 mdns 1 wicket for 45 runs ,Anuj kumar 7 overs 0 mdns 1 wicket for 35 runs and sohail anwar 8 overs 0 mdns 3 wickets for 40 runs .Tea was taken and as visiting players passed me on way to dressing room after having tea the usual comment of what terrific teas you have was heard.Denham opened solidly in reply but never entered into a run chase at any stage of there innings which left Daniel switching the bowling around as denham looked to take the draw away from their visit.wickets fell at 46,50,58,83,95,104,107 and 117 but at 138 for 8 after 43 overs the game ended in a draw.lupton 28,gahunia 15, shokat 15 ,desai 12 ,anwar 18 not out all got going but none went on to mount any threat to pinner.Pinner’s wicket takers were Daniel Langan 12 overs 7 mdns 1 for 15 runs,nick Lawrence 11 overs 3 mdns 2 wickets for 20 runs,Salman moeeniddin 9 overs 1 mdn 1 wkt for 32 runs,Raahul aggarwal 7 overs 1 mdn 3 for 40 runs and Felix hoh 2 overs 0 mdns 1 wkt for 10 runs .The game was played in a good spirit both teams had umpire and scorer ,who’d have thought at 41 for 5 looking down and out for the count that Pinner would score 212 for 9 in 47 overs but that they did today onwards and upwards braywood away next week come on you lambs
