Match report With no league games scheduled for either of our teams today,it was time for a special game ,the presidents xi versus the club and what a great day it was to be especially with after a dull morning a sunshine afternoon.daniel langan club captain and robert harrison presidents x1 captain strode into the middle and the resulting toss of the coin saw the presidents x1 put into bat.2 early strikes by felix hoh 1 for 24 and colt aryan thakrar 1 for 22 had Norman williams 6 and John spencer 2 back in the hutch at 14 for 2 a big blow for the presidents x1 as both batsmen legends of our club.however other legends mike christelow 31 in 29 balls 7 X 4 with dave Richards 25 29 balls 6 X 4 both batted well putting on a 60 run partnership and then both departed after good knocks with the scoreboard showing 80 for 4 off 13 overs.This bought together 13 year old kieran carter a late call up into action with dave bennett together they put on a majestic 78 partnership 158 for 5 with carter departing for an excellent 25 in 48 balls 78 minutes 2 X 4 and showing excellent discipline.richard kessel had a quick flurry but soon departed 165 for 6.enter rob harrison and with bennett 79 not out in 86 balls 111 minutes 12 X 4 and harrison 30 not out 5 X 4 an entertaining stand of 51 saw the presidents x1 declare at 226 for 6 off 40 overs.daniel used 10 bowlers and Daniel Langan 1 for 21 ,Leroy Rogers 1 for 3 and Simon pilsbury 2 for 42 took the further wickets.an extra special lisa tea awaited both teams and boy what a tea it was ,more than enough to feed everyone on the ground with her wide variety of goodies truly magnificent but to be honest lisa's teas are legendary all around on our circuit all our opponents either know or soon know about them well done lisa and team a credit to pcc.The clubs aussie Andrew maher and robert fells immediately went on an aggressive approach and a 113 run partnership in 18 overs was broken when john spencer got Andrew hit wicket for 53 10 X 4 52 balls and then 2 overs later rob also 53 in 56 balls 9 X 4 departed to spencer 136 for 2.rob harrison didn't have the strings to pull with his bowling attack as the club had today but he managed to get a tune out of what was available especially spencer.however at 152 for 3 with nevan o sullivan departure after 22 overs the club had 16 overs to bat 75 runs to win 8 wickets in hand (as 12 a side) and victory seemed a guarantee.youg kieran came on to bowl and dad alan had given him a blasting to the boundary on quite a few occasions before kieran bowled alan for 28 157 for 4.Tino mahendram 18 was a spencer victim 185 for 5.however felix hoh then with a rapid 24 looked likely to see the club through to victory.mike christelow joined the attack and trapped nick lawrence lbw 203 for 6 and then john spencer who had claimed the wickets of felix hoh and rob bonneywell and incredibly the presidents x1 were now well back in a game at 207 for 8 that earlier seemed wouldn't happen but we all know how games can turn.leroy Rogers batted well and with support from Simon pilsbury saw the club through to a 3 wicket victory with 10 balls remaining despite john spencer 6 for 47 off 12 overs including 3 richard kessel stumpings.rogers 15 not out and pilsbury 2 not out ,christelow 1 for 21 carter 1 for 49 were the other wicket takers.An excellent days entertainment was then added to with a lisa chicken and goat curry and a karaoke as members mingled together in the clubhouse.my thanks to victor gutteridge and peter brown for umpiring the game today,to anyone who made this special day for our club and to captains Daniel and rob for entertainment provided under their leadership on the field of play well done pinner cc come on you lambs oops nearly forgot thanks Emma noel,Emma langan and rea mistry for their imput to this special day.
