Match report Denham 1st X1 made the short trip today to montesole to take on league leaders pinner cc .Daniel Langan Pinner cc skipper knowing that overnight rain and forecast rain ahead meant if he could win the toss he would invite the visitors to bat and take the chance of bowling them out cheaply and hopefully force a result.A while before denham had arrived rain meant the covers were in place on the square and with the rain getting heavier the umpires decided on no play till further inspection at 2 pm and at that time both umpires and captains after rain had stopped walked out to the square and the toss took place.The umpires then approached me as the only scorer and informed me that denham had won the toss and Pinner were elected to bat and that 20 overs were to be docked and the match was now an 80 overs game.pinner could bat 42 and denham could have 38 overs in reply.The captain of the visitors gave me 11 names but when taking the field only 9 were at the ground with 2 en route?? .At 2 18 pm jonny hymers and Alan Carter opened the innings with former Pinner player indejeet gahunia and sohail anwar opening the bowling for denham.inderjeet bowled a tight line and length and it was anwar who was attacked mostly by Alan Carter but with good support from jonny hymers. Alan struck a fine 30 not out in 32 balls 3 x 4 1 x 6 and Jonny 16 not out 1 x 4 in 46 balls and in partnership of 48 off 13 overs with anwar going for 25 off 4 overs .At 2 57 pm with still no sign of denham cc 2 missing players rain had forced a halt in play and covers once again in place.inderjeet had only conceded 14 runs off his 7 overs and umpires decided at 3 31 pm that there was no chance of further play and sadly the game was duly abandoned with 5 points awarded to both teams.lisa served up her usual wonderful teas which only a few of the denham team sampled as some had left straight after game abandoned but also our 2 nd X1 returning from denham after there abandonment and no tea layed on also sampled .
