Match report Having gained promotion from chiltern league division 3 last week Pinner 1st X1 travelled to winchmore hill penn cc knowing they were 2 points clear of also promoted little marlow cc but would have to bat first and win to be certain of winning the title if lmcc also batted first and attained the maximum 30 points win bonus available.covers had been put on whcc square but it was in Daniels opinion a moist pitch but on winning the toss our skips duly elected that pinner would indeed bat.our two opening stalwarts norman Williams and Alan Carter took up the challenge and it was soon obvious that the ball would not be coming on to the bat easily and great application would be needed.This they did and both had a touch of luck being dropped but put on an excellent 79 partnership till Alan 32 in 74 balls 77 minutes departed in the 24 th over.Enter jonny hymers and he and Norman built on the solid start till in the 36 th over 118 for 2 when Norman departed for a very good 63 in 101 balls 123 minutes with then hari ramachandran joining jonny.Thoughts were we needed to bat 52 overs and that 200 would be needed minimum and with both batsmen taking on the change bowlers pinners run charge had been set up for our incoming batsmen to do just that.jonny dispatched any loose off line deliveries to the boundary with aplomb and hari unleashed big shots as these 2 put on 90 in 11 overs till hari departed for 57 in 41 balls 43 minutes 2 x 4 5 x 6 and Pinner 208 for 3 .jonny was unfortunately run out in the same over for 49 in 62 balls 81 minutes 7 x 4 208 for 4 47 overs but nothing could take away from 2 excellent innings .Ravi pandya scored 6 213 for 5 48 overs and it was left to raj pandian 10 and salman moeeniddin 14 not out to see Pinner to an excellent 240 for 6 off 52 overs.Matt Pearce 15 overs 2 maidens 3 for 45 ,Gordon Clarke 13 overs 0 maidens 2 for 52 and a run out were the wicket takers for Whcc who had changed the bowling with regularity in desperation to breakthrough what was a very solid Pinner batting .performance all round.At 3 44 pm just as tea was taken the heavens opened and home players ran from the pavilion to put the covers on and at least a 30 minute downpour was endured before stopping.After a while an inspection of the playing surface by the umpires was carried out and play was agreed but with a loss of 30 minutes it was deemed that 10 overs would be deducted as per league rules so now the winchmore hill penn cc batting overs were reduced to 38 overs. Daniel opened with asif Khan and himself and once again asif struck an early blow 4 for 1 in the 6th over and salmon moeeniddin first change also struck 12 for 2 in the 9th over .Opener banham had bedded in and Daniel switched the bowling around trying to break the stubborn partnership bringing on nick Lawrence,Felix hoh and Ravi pandya before Alan lollipop Carter was given the ball which proved decisive as Clarke 17 who had smashed his first ball to the boundary misjudged the flight 2 balls later and was gleefully stumped by raj pandian 43 for 3 22 overs.Hari ramachandran and Ravi pandya both bowled before asif returned to the attack and raj pandian took a catch off asif 59 for 4 27 overs.Then banham who had held it all together was trapped lbw by asif for 30 in the 29 th over 62 for 5 and Felix hoh took a catch off asif in the same over 63 for 6 . Salmon returned to the attack with asif clean bowling the next 2 batsmen 68 for 7 30 overs then 68 for 8 32 overs and incredibly claiming another in the same over 68 for 9 lbw.pinner had 6 overs to bowl at the last 2 batsmen to be outright champions and it was asif who took that wicket lbw in the 35 th over 69 for 10 to claim 5 wickets for 21 runs 3 maidens in 11 pt 3 overs .salman had bowled 8 overs 3 maidens 4 wickets for 13 runs and Alan Carter 1 over 0 maidens 1 wicket for 9 runs .winchmore hill penn cc had been soundly thrashed by 171 runs with still 3 pt 3 overs to bat and for my reasons after some stress I was very highly delighted with that result their today and after 19 weeks of the league season we pinner cc 1st X1 are the champions and very deservedly so ,well done to captain Daniel Langan and stand in Alan Carter and all our players who have played in any of our league games this season and Leeroy Rogers impartial umpiring throughout the campaign ,onwards and upwards come on you lambs
