Match report The 2's welcomed Hurley to the Montesole Oval on a blustery and warm afternoon. With all players arriving on time, the pre-match tasks seemed easier than normal and all was ready by 12.30.
Winning the toss meant that Pinner could bat first on a flat track and a very fast outfield. Robert Fells (40)and Simon Pilsbury (16) put on a solid 64 before 3 quick wickets left the Lambs on 73-3. Nevan O'Sullivan (47) joined Cyrus Barrett (95) and put on 83 to steady the ship before Nevan was surprisingly bowled when looking set. This brought Tiny (aka Adam Rissen) (53*) to the crease and a partnership of 126 in 17 overs was just what the doctor ordered. Adam went to his first league 50 but the innings was held together in fine form by Cyrus, who also scored a career best score.
Continuing after another wonderful tea by Lisa Noel (thanks for the scones!) Pinner had 49 overs in which to force a win. Maison Noel and Dan Downer (1-25) opened the bowling with Dan making the breakthrough. Adam (1-29) and Rob Fells (1-17) joined skips (3-41) as wicket takers but despite numerous changes in the bowling Pinner were unlucky in their pursuit of victory. A special mention to Shane O'Sullivan who fielded for us and took a great catch!
A good day at the office and one Cyrus will treasure! Well played all and on to Knotty Green next week.
