Old Isleworthians and Heston CC v Pinner Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 15 Jul 2017 at 13.00
Pinner Cricket Club Lost by 10 runs

Match report With a gap week in the league schedule, a much changed Pinner 2nd XI side, including six colts, made the short trip to play Old Isleworthians & Heston CC to play a 40-overs limited overs friendly.
Winning the toss, stand-in skipper Simon Pilsbury put the opposition in to bat. Despite some decent bowling from openers Anay Lakhia (7-0-52-2) and John Hoh (5-0-29-0), and a track with some uneven bounce, Old I's started strongly, reaching 75 without loss by the end of the 11th over. However, bowling from the end named after his father, Rob Bonneywell (5-0-26-1) then made the first breakthrough, as an I's opener skied a catch to John Hoh at long off. Fisher and Ali continued in aggressive fashion for Old I's, taking the total to 120 in the 20th over when Fisher, a ball after reaching his 50, gave Dan Downer (4-0-21-1) a simple return catch off a full toss.
Having set the platform for a big total, OIHCC continued to attack, despite wickets falling regularly to Anay and Raees Hussain (6-0-30-2), reaching 224-6 at the end of the 37th over, at which point despite it being a limited overs match they declared. A special mention for young Jamie Carter (4-0-19-0) for some very tidy bowling towards the end of the innings.
As has been usual this season, Robert Fells and Simon Pilsbury were sent out to open the batting. In the sixth over, Rob dragged on with just 4 to his name, and Kieran Carter followed him back to the hut just three balls later for a duck, top edging a slog sweep to the keeper. That brought Rob Bonneywell to the crease, and he and Simon proceeded to put on 131 in 24 overs for the third wicket, turning what had looked like a walkover for Old I's into a very competitive affair. They were finally separated when Simon lost his off-stump to one that seamed in and kept low after scoring a Boycott-esque 31 in 30 overs. As is so often the way in long partnerships, one wicket brought to, as the next over Rob gave O'Connor a return catch, departing for a hard hit 69. At that point, the lambs were still in the match, with 80 required off the last ten overs, but the rapid departures of John Hoh (5) and Tino Mahendram (7) left Pinner requiring 70 off the last eight overs. A good partnership from Dan Downer (16) and Anay (20*) briefly threatened to give Pinner the win, but with all the fielders set on the ropes, they and Shane O'Sullivan (3*) were unable to quite get enough and OIHCC won by 11 runs.
Overall, a very good game played in an excellent spirit, and a suitably close result that was in doubt until the last couple of overs.
