Pinner Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI v Winchmore Hill on Sat 19 May 2018 at 13.00
Pinner Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets

Match report With no game today for our first x1 I was happy to score for our 2 nd x1 v winchmore hill Penn 1st x1 ( bucks ) whose team list only declared 10 names at a sun decked montesole .The visitors won the toss and elected to bat,as Pinner had no official umpire it was agreed the visitors umpire bill Calder would umpire both ends.pinner opened up with quickie Krishna radharkrishan and medium pace of Shaji Thomas and it was Thomas who trapped lbw banham who has caused our first x1 problems in the past as a runs accumulator more than capable of crease occupation for 2 and 11 for 1 after 3 overs.Mark Dickson at 2 was joined by wajhat ali who decided to open out from the off and went for Thomas hitting lusty blows with intention .rob bonneywell came on and ali went after him as well while Dickson just went about occupying and building an innings.krishna then skittled the dangerous hard hitting ali’s Stumps when he went for another big hit and winchmore hill were 68 for 2 with him 34 5 x 4 2 x 6 off 15 overs with 32 still to bat.dickson batted sensibly to steady the ship and at 97 for 2 rob bonneywell coaxed Dickson into an air
shot that Saif Khan snapped up 97 for 3 22 overs he had scored 42 in 70 balls so all were relieved with his departure.Rob then bought dan downer into the attack and Dan got the umpire to raise his finger and send Krishan packing lbw for 14 101 for 4 24 overs .simon pilsbury came into the attack and lured Iqbal out of his crease and Waris Khan duly obliged with the stumping 109 for 5 however with ten men they were in fact 6 down and Pinner were now on top and winchmore hill buckling after a good platform had been put in place. They had looked likely for 200 plus but were now shell shot and someone had to dig in and quickly to ease the situation they were now in.Recovering seemingly for a few overs they looked to have done so however dan downer struck 2 big blows at 125 and 131 both clean bowled to further decimate the opposition now 131 for 7 31 overs.Rob bonneywell had come back into the attack and he struck in the next over with a strike on the stumps 134 for 8 32 overs .With the last 2 batsmen at the crease batting sensibly winchmore hill batted a further 8 overs before the returning Simon Pilsbury again tempted the batsman out of his ground and stumped once again by Waris Khan 160 all out in 39 pt 2 overs .krishna bowled 9 overs 1 maiden 1 wkt for 29 ,shaji 4 ovs 0 mdns 1 wkt for 30 ,rob 11 overs 0 maidens 2 wkts for 38, dan 10 overs 0 Mdns 3 wkts for 42 and Simon 4 pt 2 overs 0 mdns 2 for 14 all in all captain rob had to be happy with this after winchmore hill had been 97 for 2 and Pinner had got 50 overs to obtain a victory which if batting sensibly especially our top 6 was well on the cards.Tea was taken and it was the usual fantastic award winning feast that Lisa and helpers prepared before rob sent out rob fells with Simon Pilsbury .In the 3rd over Simon was trapped lbw for 4 pinner 11 for 1 Enter jack tucker who did exactly what we all know a confident jack can do take on an attack and that was his mindset and it reaped rewards with a range of shots and particularly punishing any loose delivery with aplomb.Rob played the supporting role efficiently till being caught for 12 off 33 balls 55 minutes and a partnership of 64 pinner 71 for 2 .Enter Saif Khan a little shakily at first but then jack tucker 44 7 x 4 78 for 3 18 overs was caught behind and a fine innings ended and now 2 new batsmen at the crease. With still 32 overs to bat Pinner did not want to lose another 2 quick wickets as winchmore hill would be well and truly back in the game and with the experienced Cyrus Barrett at the crease he and saif dealt efficiently with some loose deliveries to make sure that victory was assured for Pinner .Both dominated the bowling changes the winchmore hill captain in desperation made to try and get his troops back into the game and made sure it wasn’t going to happen. Khan 40 not out 7 x 4 40 balls 65 mins and Barrett 37 not out 7 x 4 40 balls 56 mins put on 83 in just under 13 overs as Pinner cruised to an excellent 7 wicket victory with 19 overs to spare.umpire bill Caldwell umpired the game excellently and fairly for both teams and the game was played in a good spirit with the visitors stopping for an after match drink .i congratulated rob and the team after the match on an excellent all round team performance and a very well deserved win today , well done to all onwards and upwards
