Denham 2 v Pinner Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 09 Jun 2018 at 13.00
Pinner Cricket Club Won by 9 wickets

Match report With no 1 st x1 fixture today our 2 nd x1 travelled our shortest journey in the Chiltern League to old friends denham cc Buckinghamshire .As a club we have played them for many years previous in Sunday friendlies in well over 20 years and good relations have always existed between our clubs. In strong sunshine Cyrus Barrett won the toss and elected to field thus giving our hosts in this 90 overs contest the use of a possible 47 overs to bat and Pinner 43 .kamal sharma opened with the veteran Stuart Payne for denham and Krishnan radhakrishan and Felix hoh opened with pace for Pinner.Despite both Felix and Krishan bowling well denham after 8 overs were 28 for 0 when Cyrus bought Daniel Langan into the attack and it was Daniel bowling Payne who was deceived by a flighted delivery in his 2 nd over and then Simon Pilsbury diving at mid off to take an excellent catch to dispose of Simpson for a duck at 3 denham 38 for 2 after 13 overs with hoh giving nothing away with his bowling in good areas.Denham staged a recovery with sharma and tamour sadique till the returning Krishnan struck for a deserved wicket with sharma lbw for 24 and denham 67 for 3 off 18 overs .This bought Faisal Mahmood into the contest and with Cyrus using his bowlers in bursts sadique and Mahmood were going along nicely with a 63 run partnership till felix returning struck first by bowling Mahmood 34 runs in 52 balls 62 minutes 5 x 4 130 for 4 34 overs then removing sadique 41 in 62 balls 93 minutes 8 x 4 caught by Cyrus 139 for 5 after 36 overs these proved to be decisive wickets as if one of these batsmen had stayed 200 plus was looking very achievable at this stage .simon pilsbury bowled a good 4 over spell and Shaji Thomas also a 5 over spell but it was to be deepak amriwala and Krishnan who both bowled excellent spells to bowl the last 11 overs tightly and deepak bowled an excellent line and length to contain denham who obviously wanted to post 200.krishnan caught and bowled 142 for 6 38 overs and deepak and him gave little loose deliveries away and the anticipated home team assault was contained with deepak claiming a deserved wicket in the last over with denham 176 for 7 off their allotted 47 overs .pinner bowling figures today were krishnan 13 overs 2 maidens 2 wickets for 41 runs,Felix 10 overs 3 maidens 2 wickets for 20 runs,Daniel 5 overs 2 maidens 2 wickets for 17 runs, simon 5 overs 0 maidens 0 wickets for 20 runs ,shaji 4 overs 0 maidens 0 wickets for 19 runs and deepak 10 overs 1 maiden 1 wicket for 36 runs excellent bowling for the latter stage of denham innings.cyrus had to be happy that denham had been contained but nothing could be taken for granted as denham had the runs on the board albeit from their skips point of view not the 200 that earlier looked likely.Tea was taken and by now the sunshine had dissipated and spots of rain were about in the air.pinner opened up with rob fells and Simon Pilsbury as denham opened up with pace and medium pace and rob did the right thing paying respect but going right through with his shots decisively with Simon bedding in and a useful partnership was finally broken after 16 overs with pinner 56 for 1 and rob bowled by Mahmood for 33 6 x 4 1 x 6 in 49 balls 49 minutes.jack tucker entered at 3 and Mahmood bowled excellently and had tied one end down to the extent that his first 9 overs only 7 runs had been scored. After 21 overs drinks were taken with pinner 66 for 1 with 22 overs to bat and 111 needed for victory with 9 wickets in hand so denham needed at least 2 quick wickets to bring themselves back in the game but neither simon or jack were in a mood to give the home team any much needed boost.pinner had reached 109 for 1 off 30 overs with Simon putting any loose delivery away and jack deciding it was time for him to party which he did with some well placed shots to the boundaries and despite the denham skipper juggling his bowling it wasn’t happening for the home team In their desperation to get these two batsmen back into the pavilion .jack aggressively and Simon supporting by doing the simple things scored 61 runs in 8 pt 1 overs to see pinner to an emphatic 9 wicket victory with 4 pt 5 overs still to bat.Faisal Mahmood had bowled an excellent spell of 11 overs 4 maidens 1 wicket for 23 runs for denham with jack 73 not out in 77 balls 96 minutes 11 x 4 2 x 6 and Simon with his second consecutive league half century in hitting the winning boundary 52 not out in 103 balls 148 minutes 8 x 4 , the game was played in a good sporting spirit by the teams today and umpire rob bonneywell acquitted himself very fairly in umpiring both ends for today’s game,Well done to captain Cyrus and the lads today on a very good all round team display, onwards and upwards come on you lambs
