Match report Pinner 2's welcomed Hurley to the Montesole Oval. Rain all week had made it difficult to cut a strip, but the recently acquired covers enabled a pitch to be cut that eventually played very well.
After recent weeks of strong sides, it was a change that meant an under strength 2's side were asked to bat first - losing the toss to Hurley meant that one result was so much more likely than any other, as Hurley invited Pinner to bat first.
Norman Williams (49) made a welcome return and was enjoying himself in partnerships first with Shakib Miskeenmal (12) and then Akshay Dhanda (62) before holing out to long on. Akshay continued to bat well and was joined by the evergreen Cyrus Barrett (57) who was batting for only the second time this season. Once Akshay departed Jayesh Sharma (43*) joined Cyrus to play well in his first league game for The Lambs, before Skips decided to declare once Cyrus lost his wicket at 246-4. This was a massive score on a green track and an outfield where the ball often struggled to reach the boundary.
A lovely Lisa Noel tea meant that Hurley had 44 overs to chase a large target. In good Hurley tradition, after a but of a start they were never interested in the chase, despite putting Pinner in to bat. Rain came and lost 14 overs from their batting time, which was enough to kill any game dead. Although Varun Gopalakrishnan (1-32) and Kavin Soundararajan (1-13) bowled well, the wickets were hard to come by. Akshay (1-37) struggled to find a bit of rhythm and after skips (1-3) bowled the mainstay of the Hurley batting it was jjust a case of how boring Hurley could be.
A game that was ultimately decided by the toss meant that Pinner took 13 points to Hurley's 3.
Thanks to AK for scoring and a much better performance than last week means that Pinner have consolidated their position at the top of the table.
