Match report Pinner 2's hosted Little Marlow in the latest round of league matches on a sunny day. On winning the toss the visitors decided to bat first.
The usual opening pair started things off for the Lambs, with Varun Gopalakrishnan (3-28) striking in the third over, bowling the dangerous Rob Mason. Akshay Dhanda (4-47) was brought into the attack early and both bowlers found some life in the pitch, and making it difficult for Little Marlow to break free. As it was Pinner had to wait until the 14th over for the next wicket, with Jack Tucker pouching the catch. A couple of misfields led to a couple of needless boundaries as fielders tried to use their feet and failed. However Pinner were still on top as Akshay took two in two and Anay Lakhia (1-29) chipped in with a caught behind off a rising delivery.
Wickets continued to fall, with a run out by Omkar illustrating how the pressure was begging to tell on the visitors. Skips (1-23) had an off day and so it was left to Varun to clear up the tail, with Cyrus Barrett taking a good catch in the deep to remove their top scorer. For the second time this season Pinner had to bat a short time before tea, and it was successfully negotiated by Robert Fells (29) and Simon Pilsbury (28).
After a lovely Lisa Noel tea (who had all the chocolate eclairs?) they continued and put on 53 before Rob went leg before. Akshay Dhanda (54*) joined Simon before Simon also perished, getting a leading edge that sent the ball skywards and into the keepers hands. That was the last success that Little Marlow had as Jack Tucker (24*) and Akshay saw the Lambs home to a thoroughly convincing win by eight wickets.
Thanks to our officials on the day, Darshin Lakhia and Alan Kay - it makes skippering so much easier!
It was a good competitive game played in fine spirits and it was also good to see the visitors staying behind for a beer or two.
The Lambs are sitting nicely at the top of the league, and it's now a short break from the league until we visit Penn & Tylers on the first weekend in August.
