Match report Persistent drizzle and dropped catches hampered Pinner in their attempt to dismiss Polytechnic in the Middlesex Championship but excellent bowling from Chris Hawes (6/31) restricted the visitors to 175/7.

Pinner lost two early wickets in their reply but a stand of 71 between John Spencer (49) and Tim Hawes (36) put them in a winning position. However, the loss of four quick wickets brought the run chase to an abrupt halt and Pinner had to settle for a draw, finishing with 141/7.
