Hurley 2 v Pinner Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 17 Aug 2019 at 13.00
Pinner Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets

Match report Pinner 2's travelled to the quaint ground of Hurley seeking a win that would make them deserved Division 2 Champions.
Skips lost the toss and surprisingly Hurley decided to go against their normal 'draw at all costs' mentality and bat first on a good, hard wicket - their decision probably swayed by the fact that they only had 7 players at the ground at 1.00.
With Varun Gopalakrishnan missing this week, it was left to relative newbie Campbell Grace to open the bowling with Jimmy Carter. Campbell bowled a good spell often beating the edge of the flaying Hurley bats but it Was Jimmy Carter (2-23) who made the breakthrough, with skips just about hanging on to a Mike Walton edge at first slip. Amazingly the first bowler to get Walton out in over 144 overs! Cole at the other end was being tied down by both opening bowlers but it was the change of bowling that saw his downfall, taking a swipe at a straight ball from John Hoh (3-14) and seeing the top of off stump being clipped. Abid Yasin replaced Campbell but his spikes caught in the hard ground, twisting his knee and meant he had to be escorted from the field. Saif Khan was summoned to complete the over in one of the shortest spells bowled this season!
Skips (4-12) came on at this stage and there was no escape for the batting as he and John shared 7 wickets between themselves. A run out didn't help the Hurley cause and only 3 batsmen made double figures in a disappointing total of just 91.
After a very good tea with both hot and cold food Pinner sent out the regular openers Robert Fells and Simon Pilsbury but both failed early on. It was left to the bludgeoning bat of Saif Khan (38*) and the rather more elegant blade of Jack Tucker (26*) to see the Lambs home to a comfortable 8 wicket victory.
It was a complete mismatch in terms of a competitive game of cricket, and not the most exciting but the win comfortably sealed the league title with three weekends of the season to go.
Well played to all those who have represented Pinner 2's this year, and we should enjoy being Champions as it doesn't happen very often!
