Burnham v Pinner Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 04 May 2019 at 13.00

Match report Pinner 2's travelled to Burnham 3's on a cold and windy day. On arrival the troops went to inspect the second pitch, only to find out that we were actually playing on the main square.
With Skips losing the toss, Burnham elected to bat first, and got off to a flyer. Scoring at 7 an over there was thoughts of a massive score being posted but both Varun Gopalakrishnan (0-34) and Jamie Carter (1-38) brought it back so that Burnham had scored 47-1 at 10 overs, with Saif Khan snapping up the first of his two catches off of Jamie's bowling. That prompted a double change in bowling with Akshay Dhanda (3-46) replacing Varun from the downwind end and Deepak Amriwala (0-41) replacing Jamie in battling into the wind. Akshay continued to cause problems and a couple of close calls for catches were turned down before Saif, Rob Robert Fells and Skips all held catches. The last of them caught after Sachin Ghogle decided to 'chest' it from first slip to second slip!
Skips (3-35) replaced Deepak and caused a couple of problems, eventually clean bowling the Burnham top scorer, Bash, who was deceived by a 'wrong 'un'! Adam Rissen (0-15) had a good little spell - Tidy from Tiny - before the innings closed with Burnham on 217-7!
After an average tea there was a quick shower that prevented starting immediately and Pinner were in the unusual position of 5 batsmen padded up with no cricket going on! When play did begin Robert Fells (54*) and Simon Pilsbury (35) put on 98 before Simon fell to a quick off break. It could be that the drinks break got the wicket, as it took so long with the home side even having pizza! Akshey joined Rob but after scoring 9 from 5 balls a second quick shower took the players off the field. It became clear that Burnham had no interest in going back out when in sunshine their skipper just said the Club Captain had told them we couldn't play on. With Pinner in a very strong position the game could have gone to an exciting finish but in the words of SP 'Burnham bewilderingly call game off due to a brief shower!
On to next week and our first league game with a trip to the lovely, and batsman friendly, Little Marlow.
