OMT 4 v Pinner Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 06 Jul 2019 at 1300
Pinner Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets

Match report Pinner 2's travelled to our friends OMT to play a friendly due to a gap week in the league fixtures. The day started badly with players not being able to make the meet time due to some random roadworks at the Pinner Green traffic lights, but the band of 12 (with Niki Kalaru very kindly making up the OMT numbers - more on that later) managed to negotiate the traffic and arrive at OMT.
Losing the toss the Lambs were asked to field first on a close cropped grassy pitch. Opening the 5 man bowling attach were Varun Gopalakrishnan (3-15) and Jamie Carter (0-37), with Varun being wicketless in his first spell, mainly due to catches being dropped behind the wicket. Poor fielding continued to be the trend for the first 20 overs with misfields and dropped catches getting into double figures. Anay Lakhia (2-36) replaced Variun and found that a straight ball was the way to go, bowling their opener in the 13th over. Anay bowled his 8 overs straight through and will only get better as he bowls more overs. Campbell Grace (2-30) replaced Jamie and was a little rusty in his first spell but soon found his line and length when he was changed to the other end. Bowling quick and finding some life in the pitch he was unlucky not to end with better figures. Skips (3-24) came on just before drinks and bowled his 8 overs straight through. Drinks (or rather water) was taken on board at 20 overs and this seemed to light a fire under the Pinner fielders, with a sudden improvement heralded by a fine catch by Simon Pilsbury and two slip catches by the Robs. OMT ended on 149 all out in the last over.
After 5 overs Niki was spotted heading to his car, at which point Skips asked what was going on. Niki said that they now had 11 men and he was no longer needed - a shameful thing to do as OMT had asked us to provide their 11th man. It was decided that Niki would bat and field for Pinner with rotating fielders taking a short break. This behaviour would never happen at Pinner!
After a walk back to the clubhouse and a good Lisa Noel tea, Pinner set about scoring the below par target and Robert Fells (20) and Simon Pilsbury (24) put on 53 for the first wicket, with wides significantly assisting the run rate! Once both openers had gone it was left to Raj Pandian (21*) and Omkar Narvencar (51*) to see the Lambs home to a 7 wicket victory.
It was a good competitive game, with the oppo slightly below a strength that would have challenged a strong Pinner side. The day was made slightly more amusing listening to the commentator at the OMT sports day - he seemed to like the sound of his voice!
Next week we get back into league action, welcoming Little Marlow to the Montesole Oval.
