Nevertheless, Pinner can take pleasure from fine bowling performances by John Williams (6/42) and "Bally" Balendran (3/53). On a fast and bouncy wicket it was important that the slip cordon functioned efficiently and Richards, Colbeck and Hawes obliged. With Mark Dusheiko picking up two catches in the outfield, Pinner bowled Kenton out for 99.

Dave Richards (42) and Chris Hawes gave Pinner a good start and after Scott (3/28) threatened to knock them off the rails, Tim Hawes' unbeaten 41 steered Pinner into three figures with four wickets down.
