Match report The 2nd team travelled to Hurley, which must rank as one of the best grounds in the league. We were greeted by Red Kites in the skies above and sheep and lambs in adjoining fields.
Kam Mistry continued the Pinner 2 tradition of losing the toss and we were invited to bat. Both openers reached double figures before Andrew Maher (17) was first to go with the score on 25, in what was to be the joint highest partnership of the day for Pinner. Robert Fells scored 31 and Saif 13 but Pinner were soon 80 - 5 in the 20th over. A mini recovery by Cyrus Barrett (30) and Kam (18) gave Pinner a below par score of 145, scored off 37 overs. The failure to bat the full overs was to hurt Pinner later in the day.
After the best tea we've had so far this season Philip Page (yes, the same Phil that has been rolled out every year since before records began!) opened up with Nicholas Lawrence and it took 6 overs before Nick got the first breakthrough. The spinners then took over, with Cyrus Barrett (5-34) and Dan Fozzi Foskett (1-16) getting the Lambs back in the game, and seemingly on top, only for two of Hurley's youngest players to put on 40 and see the home side to victory in 46 overs (notably 10 more than Pinner batted).
So our third road trip this season was not as successful as the previous two. A lovely ground, good tea and sunny day along with Cyrus's first 5 wicket league haul meant it wasn't a complete wasted journey. On to our first home game of the season - Amersham Hill making the journey next Saturday to the Montesole Oval.
