Match report On a day we knew the forcast was for showers knotty green league leaders travelled to pinner 2nd in the division and winning the toss elected to bowl first.norman williams opened with alan carter and I felt that we had to bat our full allocation of overs 52 and get 220 to 240 bearing in mind we were aware that kgcc had some dangerous run scorers ,certainly in their top 6.mike widdowson the lanky kg opening bowler had bowled 15 overs at their ground earlier in the season for 35 runs so we sensed we'd have to bat him out and take on the other opposistion bowlers.unfortunately Norman edged a widdowson delivery gleefully accepted by slip for 2 ( Norman had scored an undefeated 100 plus at kg so they were upbeat to have dismissed him pcc 2 for 1..raj pandian came in at 3 and him and alan did well with a moving about ball till kemp trapped alan lbw for 23 in 53 balls 67 minutes 2 X 4 pinner 34 for 2 off 18 overs.widdowson was taken off and abdul majeed aggressively set about replacement Emmerson 5 overs 0 for 28 and blunden and with raj chipping in the home side had scored 73 runs in 8 overs when raj 38 in 81 balls 114 minutes 6 X 4 was adjudged caught at slip 107 for 3 26 overs.spinner tommy Patel joined the attack with widdowson returning for a 2nd spell and he was to strike 5 times 12 overs 2 maidens 5 for 26 with widdowson 15 overs 8 maidens 2 for 24 claiming the other.pinner from being 107 for 2 slumped to 139 for 8 in 44 overs.3 rain interruptions meant 3 overs to be taken off each team so pinner now had 49 to bat.abdul had departed at 122 for 6 with an excellent 54 in 55 balls 87 minutes 9 X 4 1 X 6 so he had more than done well I wasn't out their today but got knowledge of 2 questionable umpiring decisions but unfortunately the batsmen were given out so we have to accept that it was in my book as both out.pinner ended 163 for 8 49 overs.blunden finished 1 for 38 off 5 overs asif khan got 11 ,nick Lawrence 10 and Daniel Langan 13 not out.kgcc openers capstick and Millington were parted after the score had reached 19 in a run out mix up which bought johny Patel to the crease and he set about the home attack from the off fully aware that likely showers could prevent kgcc from victory.millington departed at 95 for 2 Patel already had 50 in 36 balls and was joined by brother nick 25 not out.at 6 3 1pm the heavens erupted just after johny had got out for 91 16 X 4 157 for 3 27 overs.kgcc overs were cut by 8 leaving them 37 overs to obtain the win with 6 runs needed .with the rain stopping kgcc scored the required 6 runs to record a 7 wicket victory thus increasing there lead at the top ,on reflection we at 107 for 2 after 26 then 139 for 8 44 overs anyone can surely see where it all went wrong today and the 220/240 we needed was a long way away but 190 was a hope with overs reduction.we move on its gone these things happen but I'm sure we have some plusses from today to take from the disappointment we all felt at games end.abdul took 1 for 32 harsha poovaiah 1 for 41 well done kgcc deserved victors on the day,lisa did her usual wonderful tea well appreciated by the visitors who stayed for a drink after the game
