Match report Pinner 2's welcomed bottom of the table Emmbrook & Bearwood to the Montesole Oval on the hottest day of the year.
Winning the toss the visitors decided to bat first against the strongest bowling attack in the league. Varun Gopalakrishnan (2-29) opened with Jamie Carter (2-13) and the breakthrough came in the 3rd over, with Varun trapping Narang in front with just 16 on the board. Jamie then struck in his third over bowling very intelligently and sharing wickets with Varun the visitors were soon 33 for 4. In the hot conditions the quicker bowlers were rotated in short spells and soon Anay Lakhia (3-26) was in the wickets, bowling a good line and length that had Embrook batsmen playing and missing.
There was a frustrating period for the Lambs as the last two wickets put on 55 runs but skips (3-17) returned to the attack to finish off the innings, meaning Pinner had bowled out Embrook in just 28.3 overs.
It was too early for tea so Pinner started their innings despite some early blows, Robert Fells (14) departed in the 3rd over. Simon Pilsbury (20) was joined by Akshay Dhanda (45) and made it through to the second last ball before tea, falling LBW at 56. After tea Akshay was joined by Singh Satinder (24*) and they put on 42 before Akshay fell, LBW. However the Lambs were almost home and Satinder saw Pinner through to a convincing win in just 16.2 overs.
The result meant Pinner received 30 points to the opposition 3, which reflected the gulf in class between the two teams.
Many thanks to umpire Darshin Lakhia and scorer Alan Kay and the 2's have a week off from league cricket next week, with a friendly to be arranged.
