Match report Pinner 2's hosted Rickmansworth III in their first league match of the season, after last week's washout. Persistent drizzle in the morning along with a very green, damp pitch meant that Skips had no hesitation in inviting Rickmansworth to bat first.
In a move away from recent opening bowlers, Varun Gopalkrishnan (3-36) was partnered with the spin of Darshan Dixit (1-19) and both kept a lid on the visitors progress. Despite a prolonged shower in the first half an hour, the Lambs persisted in the field and scoring was difficult. Skips (2-18) was introduced early and further halted the run rate, with 4 maidens in 5 overs, as their opener Blackwell was doing a good impression of Chris Tavare (for younger readers, think Dom Sibley), scoring better with his verbals than the bat!

Jamie Carter replaced Varun and continued with the trend of giving little away, being unlucky not to have had at least one wicket as catches were shelled. Raj Vernekar (1-13) replaced Skips and again run scoring was difficult and wickets kept falling. The visitors ended their 45 overs on a below par score of 128-9.

After tea, Pinner took to chasing the low total, knowing that small scores can sometimes be difficult. Despite a couple of early wickets, firstly Saif Khan (14) and then Raj Veneker (41*) joined the solid Alan Carter (51*) in easily chasing down the target, with Alan going to a league 50 off the last ball.
A good win for the Lambs where everyone contributed. Next week we travel to the sunnier climate of Letchworth Garden City - doesn't that sound lovely!
