Penn & Tylers Green 2 v Pinner Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 03 Aug 2019 at 13:00
Pinner Cricket Club Won by 195 runs

Match report Pinner 2's travelled to Penn & Tylers Green on a warm afternoon for the resumption of their league campaign. Winning the toss, skips had no hesitation in batting on a ground with short boundaries on three sides of the ground.
Robert Fells (54) was joined in opening the batting this week by Shakib Miskeenmal (41) and they put on 98 for the first wicket, going at almost 10 an over. A change in bowling saw the hosts pick up their first wicket with Shakib misjudging a straight ball and departing bowled. a number of wickets fell in a relatively short space of time before Kieran Carter (31) came to the wicket. The short boundaries were to his liking as he hit three 6's and three 4's before being caught playing a defensive prod.
With Pinner at 177-6 there was still some work to do to get firstly the maximum batting points, and then a respectable score on a small ground. Abid Yasin (27*) was joined by skips (57*) in the 28th over and it was not long before they were both well set. In the next eleven overs the Lambs scored 91, and declared at 268-6 after the 39th over, with Skips in particular seizing on anything short or overpitched and going to his 50 in 35 balls.
After a good tea Pinner took to the field with the possibility of having to field for 51 overs. However, Varun Gopalakrishnan (2-14) struck in his second over by bowling Raja. Just after this a smart throw from Jamie Carter saw Penn lose their second wicket in the same over. At 11-2 there was now little chance of the hosts providing a threat to the Pinner score and it wasn't long before Varun took his second wicket, with a lofted catch taken at square leg by Rajesh Kumar. Abid Yasin (4-15) replaced Varun and bowled well on his league debut, with the in-swing proving too accurate for the Penn batsmen. John Hoh (2-5) bowled 4 overs and whilst being a little of the mark still picked up two wickets. Skips (1-5) came on for an over and it was then left to Abid to finish off the Penn innings, and round off an fine league debut.
Pinner are likely to face stiffer competition in the next three weeks, with both Phoenix and Holyport visiting the Montesole Oval, but it was a good, professional result for a slightly understrength team.
Well played all, and bring on next week!
