Pinner Cricket Club Saturday Pinner 2nd XI v Letchworth Garden City 4 on Sat 18 Jul 2020 at 1300
Pinner Cricket Club Won by 133 runs

Match report Cricket made a welcome return after a long and painful break as Pinner 2's welcomed Letchworth Garden City 4's to the Montesole Oval.
On a warm, sunny day usual pre-match preparations had the added complication of Covid-19 precautions but thanks to the sterling efforts of all 11 players the game was able to start on time.
Losing the toss, the Lambs were invited to bat on a wicket that had lacked the normal pre-season work and been unattended for the majority of the lockdown period. And so it proved, as unpredictable bounce meant some balls leapt from a good length whilst others went along the floor.
Jack Tucker (19) opened with Simon Pilsbury (4) and the pair faced an uneventful first over, followed by an 11 ball second over, that had no balls, wides, boundaries and Simon's wicket - 20-1 off 2 overs!
Akshay Dhanda (29) joined Jack and added 22 for the 2nd wicket before the latter was bowled by the opposing skipper, Lee. Another quick wicket fell as Omkar Narvencar was also bowled, attempting a pull shot. In came Alan Carter (25) who steadied the ship and played the anchor role as batsmen came and went quite regularly. Darshan Dixit (19) batted very sensibly, initially putting on 22 with Lord and then shepherding the tail with sensible support from Jamie Carter and John Hoh.
Pinner ended their innings on 167 all out in the 40th over, which was always going to be a very competitive score, and largely helped by 46 extras.
After packed teas had been consumed, Pinner went out to field and within 15 minutes the contest was effectively over. Jimmy Carter (3-11) and Atul Singh (2-1) destroying the Letchworth Garden top order to leave the oppo 12-4 at the first sanitation break. It didn't get better for the visitors as Akshay and John (1-5) continuing to apply the pressure without any luck. It was left to Man of the Match Jack (4-1) to rip through the rest of the batting as they ended on a rather below par score of 34 all out.
Thanks to Alan Kay and Leeroy Rogers on the pens and white coat duties - as always it's very appreciated by all!
A great team performance meant a 133 run win and the two debutants, Atul and Darshin, both making significant contributions.
Well played all, and we look forward to the next game, again at home next week!
