Pinner Cricket Club Lost by 40 runs

Match report Pinner 2's travelled the short distance to Chenies and Latimer CC for the first of two pre-league friendlies.
A quick inspection of the wicket told us all we needed to know - it was freezing and windy!
Winning the toss, Pinner chose to field in the arctic conditions, and a wide variety of coloured hoodies, thermals and jumpers were worn under the whites!
Varun Gopalakrishnan (1-16) opened the bowling with Jamie Carter (3-28) and both bowled very well in the conditions. Navin Agarwal (1-43) and Akshay Dhanda (1-35) both beat the bat and on other days will have picked up more than one wicket a piece.
Then came the highest partnership for C&L, with their 4 and 5 batsmen putting on 51, and both scoring in the 40's.
Jamie came back to take his third wicket and Skips (3-22) brought himself on for the last 10 overs as a mixture if edges and lusty blows brought the score to 184-8.
A better than average tea was a nice break from the wind and allowed some thawing out to take place.
In response Pinner opened with a dominant Robert Fells (24) but with wickets falling at regular intervals Pinner were always slightly behind the run chase.
A brief blast from Adam Rissen (24) including a sweetly struck six over long off against the wind briefly gave Pinner hope and he was joined by Akshay (35*), putting on 39 for the 8th wicket.
However it didn't last and Pinner eventually fell 40 runs short.
A good game, played in great spirit by both teams and a big thanks to Leeroy Rogers was standing in the freezing wind all afternoon.
Roll on next week and a visit to Burnham!
